I didn't even know about it before I was 11. <br /> <br />I first read the story from my princess story collection book (I don't know it's original title. Its cover is pink and it has the six princesses stories: Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin) and I read it because it was after TLM. I really liked it and I wanted to watch the movie. I first found the second movie on VHS and I did like it (today I don't really like it, but I don't hate it) but I still wanted to watch the first movie. It turned out that we have on DVD and after the first watch my whole life changed. I loved it so much, though I didn't get all the jokes (I still don't get some of Genie's transformations, but it because I'm not American). I watched the film everyday after school (mostly from the part when Genie comes in) and I listened the songs whenever I had time. <br /> <br />At the end of school (4th grade) I brought the movie into the class to watch it and everyone said how childish to love this and other things and it really hurt me and I started to hate Aladdin. I had a big fallout for 2-3 years (I don't hate that period of my life though. That was the time I started to watch animes and I still love some of them) and I didn't wanted to see it again. <br /> <br />Near to my 14th birthday (Oct. 5) on the new Disney Channel they played Aladdin again and I watched it, give it another chance and I became a big fan of it again. I watched the movies, then some episodes I found in Hungarian and the rest of the series in English then the movies as well. Genie has become one of my favorite character of all time (I love both Robin Williams and Mikó István voicing him) and just the whole franchise enchanted me. <br /> <br />Since then Aladdin means a lot to me. I've got interested in fantasy stories not just on child level, I started to read Magi (and I found my favourite female character, Morgiana) and I started to make stories (even if I have them just in my head). It inspires me a lot and my biggest own story was originally a fanfic for Aladdin and a lot of characters and ideas of mine are come from creating some stories for the Aladdinverse. For me, Aladdin is my muse (For some people Harry Potter or LoTR, for me Aladdin. Great Zita, just great. Perfect basic thing for fantasy stories <img src="images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Rolling Eyes" border="0" />). <br /> <br />I don't have anything related to Aladdin in my home and I don't really speak about it. I know that for a lot of people this is just a Disney movie and nothing more. I only met one fan (Hungarian) on the internet recently and she's more of a Malcho fan than for the whole franchise. I'm okay with it. Sure I would like to talk about it (that's why I made a blog for it and registered here) but I think I've got use to not talking about things I really like (like animes and mangas). I love it from the very core of my heart and that's all I need. I DID watch it a million times but I can't remember exactly when... I was 7 years old or something when it came out and unlike many of the people on here I can't remember a damn thing from my childhood =) <br /> <br />So anyways, this semester (I go to ASU, Arizona State University) I got assigned this stupid project for one of my classes which involved a lot of paper mache LOL... which meant a lot of time spent in my apartment doing something that didn't need my full attention, which ALSO meant I could actually watch TV or a movie for once!! (I barely ever watch TV anymore and I never have time for movies... there's work and studying to be done!) <br /> <br />So I went to Target (I heart that store!) and bought the DVD about 3 weeks ago (This really cute guy doing my check out said "Aladdin? This movie is kickass!" and then something about coming over to watch it with me... totally funny way to hit on a girl lol). Needless to say I put the movie in and started paper macheing but the movie instantly caught my full attention and I ended up sitting on my couch totally enthralled!! <br /> <br />About 3/4's of the way through my brother came home and made me start it over from the beginning haha <br /> <br />Number one reason I loved it so much is I'm a TOTAL romantic! When I was young (like middle school-high school) I liked Sailor Moon (like everyone else!) and secretly read a bunch of fanfics after my family was asleep =) <br /> <br />The only other times I went looking for fanfics to read was after watching Pride & Prejudice (the most recent one... I absolutely LOVE that movie!) and reading Harry Potter... <br /> <br />So anyways, back to my story... I ended up watching Aladdin like 3 more times that week! Forced two of my guys friends into watching it with me and my boyfriend back home in SD has already promised to watch it with me when I'm home for spring break! =) <br /> <br />I think the number two reason I loved it was that there were so many things I missed as a kid... heck I barely even remembered the storyline! I had no clue the movie was so centered on the lovestory part! (Which I LOVE!) <br /> <br />The next week I went on amazon.com and ordered RoJ and KoT, going on that one really popular website (Agrabah Library or something?) to read fanfic about Al and Jas till my movies got here. ALWAYS, to the point where my friends and I (at around the ages of 4-<img src="images/smiles/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" border="0" /> used to pretend to be them and create our own agrabah's and atlanticas etc. Kind of what I do know, only with storywriting and fanfiction! <br /> <br />Well, I was living in Saudi Arabia at the time, so I was 4-5ish. My mum would take me to this place where you could rent english movies. So there, my mum actually chose Aladdin for me. I was uninspired to pick it, simply because the movie didn't have it's original cover, so I didn't know what it looked like (shallow I know, but I was little) Actually a lot of them didn't have covers, you know how they are Saudia Arabia, very strict about covers. <br /> <br /> random thing, my mum bout a mariah carey cd there, and they blackened her cleavage on the back, for obvious reasons. I only recently realised why there was a mark there, and that was because it had been bought in Saudi arabia. But anyway, back to my liking Aladdin! <br /> <br />So I guess I have my mum to thank for picking the movie, when I watched it, I was like "Hey this place looks a lot like parts near where I live! Their desert looks the same too! I wonder if this is really what the sultan's palace is like!" Course I was clueless. Well, my fave was Jasmine, cause she was soooo pretty, and Abu cause he was cute. As I got older, I developed appreciation for everyone, and the hots for Aladdin, lol. <br /> <br />So then I had to get the other movies, and it all stemmed from there! I found this site, one day, after I'd discovered what fanfiction was, when I found out one of my friends wrote for Harry Potter. I hadn't watched Aladdin in AGES, and it wasn't really a part of my life at that time like it is now (this was in grade 8 or 9) Anyway, I'd ALWAYS loved to write stories and make up stuff, play pretend etc. so it was right up my alley! When it came to decide what fandom I'd write for, Aladdin just popped in my head and the story started! I found this site when I was looking for pictures so my friend could make a banner, and voila! Well my story is mostly like all of yours but here it goes. I first saw Aladdin when I was 5 cause I was too small to see it in the theater (i was only 2 years old for goodness sake) and from that time on it became my favorite vhs. I pretty much had all the Jasmine dolls released at that time and that one Aladdin doll along with Rajah plushies and Iago things. Then the series came out and I watched it every time it came on after school. <br /> <br />Since I lived in Japan at the time anime was always available so while I loved Disney to bits, I became an anime lover as well. I can't really remember when but after going to Tokyo Disneyland again for like the bazillionth time in 1999 my Mom got me the vhs of Simba's Pride. After watching that I went into this anime phase where it was all I ever talked about and watched. Somewhere around 2003 I got tired of talking about nothing but anime with my best friend so I pretty much didn't watch anime anymore except for a couple of my favorites and a new series or 2 by my favorite mangaka. <br /> <br />For some reason I started missing good'ol Disney so I watched the Disney channel again but at that point most of my favorite shows like the Weekenders, Aladdin (of course), and the Hercules series were showing too early for me to wake up to or it showed while I was at school. This was when I started to watch more Nickelodeon but the shows there were getting worse and more annoying by the second which made me watch only Avatar the Last Airbender on that channel. The year 2005 when I turned 15 was when all the stress of school and life started getting to me and that was when I realized that my care free days were over. I moved from Japan to the Philippines and when we finally got all our stuff (well, the electronic stuff and regular living stuff like the bed, couch etc. anyway) <br /> <br />including the old vhs and dvds I barely had time to watch them so they were just sitting there on the shelf. Then one day around summer vacation I was bored around the house and was watching tv but I just kept staring at my old vhs and suddenly decided. What the heck, for old times sake. The first tape I picked to watch was Hercules and then I started to feel this warm care free feeling again so I just kept watching more old tapes and finally I found Return of Jafar and King of Thieves. At that moment my love for Aladdin came back again and I was getting ready to watch the original but then I remembered that my cousins had my vhs but to my horror they didn't take care of it very well through the years. I was horrified cause it didn't work anymore so I just settled for the sequels and watching Avatar the Last Airbender. <br /> <br />My Dad asked me again what I wanted for Christmas and of course I wanted the box set of Avatar (now if only the Aladdin series was available) since I loved that show as well. Later I asked him if he could get the dvd for The Lion King cause sadly the same happened to it that happened to my Aladdin vhs. I watched the sequels again and hurriedly asked my dad for the Aladdin dvd as well. I stayed on the Distant Horizons forum for Avatar for a while and then I was thinking "My two main obsessions are Aladdin (along with Disney in general) and Avatar, yet I'm only on an Avatar forum...time to spread more of the Disney love!" That's when I joined AC. I'm 16 years old and still a die-hard Disney fan!
