"Some son" is definetly the right lyric, though I can see how you would get "some sun" out of it, sun meaning brightness, happiness, etc.

"Some son" would the best lyrics. When people refer to their children, they sometimes say "pride and joy" instead of "son or daughter"

Post subject: Question About "Proud of Your Boy" Lyrics
I have a question about "Proud of Your Boy." At one point, Aladdin (Menken / Aiken) sings "That I've been one rotten kid / Some son, some pride and some joy." My question is about the "some son" part. While it makes sense, it also seems to me that "some sun" seems to be what would fit in better with "some pride and some joy." Does anyone know for sure if "some son" was in fact what was intended?
