I don't necessarily hate fanfic about Al and Jas' children...I love the Al/Jas family set up in the stories by Sedeara and Nevi Publishing (Evi and Kristin). I'd hate to see a sequel based on this premise. There was a rumour out of Spain SEVERAL years ago that there would be a sequel about Al and Jas' rebellious son, Babba (riiight), who, guess what? Didn't want to be a prince, did want to run around the streets, find a genie, and have adventures. However, if my memory serves me correctly, this was mentioned by someone not connected to Disney on a radio broadcast in Spain, once, and I don't know of anyone who heard any more on the matter. What a terrible plot that'd have been; I think I may have died. But I don't think I really want to see another Aladdin sequel...I think the story ends at a good spot. And I don't know if I'd trust any more sequels...
Yeah, Alex heard it on the radio; it was probably a joke. But that is definitely the cliche "kids sequel" plot.
They probably wouldn't do life BEFORE Aladdin I. That would involve Princess Jasmine's mother and Aladdin's parents. They alreayd did something involving Aladdin's father. And it wouldn't be interesting to see Aladdin and Jasmine living separate lives, oblivious of each othre's existence. (Jasmine said she had never been outside the palace walls, so it would probably be have them meet unless ALaddin went to the palace one day...?)
Well, they don't have to go THAT far back. The Tales from Agrabah book shows interesting little stories from both their lives.

Yeah if it wasn't his name, it was probably because of his resemblance to Bobolonius - either in his looks or in his personality.

Bobolonius is the sultan's grandfather's name, and he called Sultan "little Bobo". So whether that's short for Bobolonius or whether there is some other reason for that name we don't know.
Maybe it's like a term of endearment or something.

Well, Bobolonious refers to him as "Little Bobo". So, his name could be Bobolonious, or he was just called that because he was alot like his grandfather or something.
It never actually states that his name is Bobolonious.

And yeah, the bit with the Sultan...in the original "Arabian Nights" demo, the Sultan was named as Hamed. And I know Bobolonious comes from the series, but I forget the specific name drop and which episode it was..
FYI, it was "As the Netherworld Turns", and the drop happens when Iago and Abu meet Bobolonious in the Netherworld.
So the sultan's name is Bobolonius?

Bobolonius is from the series? Really? Did you remember what ep was that? I've read Nevi Publishing stories. It was great and the pictures pictures that Kristin drew are truly remarkable.
I heard she doesn't do Aladdin drawings anymore. Darn, I was going to ask her to draw me a certain picture.

I also wonder why people think Aladdin's last name is Ababwa? I came across a couple fanfics where Aladdin's last name is Ababwa and the Sultan's name is Bobolonius. So if it's in multiple stories could it be true?
Uh oh, we're getting into the canon vs. fanon discussion again...
I'm going to assume that Ababwa is popular because it was "Prince Ali's" last name, and who knows if Al bothered making up a fake last name? Maybe he did to be extra cautious...maybe he didn't, because he figured no one really cared enough about him to know his last name anyway, so why bother making up a new one? Maybe he didn't remember his last name and took on "Ababwa" after the "Prince Ali" incident? I don't know; I don't remember Prince Ali Ababwa being mentioned again after the first movie, so this must just be a popular trend among fanfic authors based on their thoughts on the first movie. Out of curiosity, you said you've come across a couple instances of this? The only stories I remember reading that use the surname of Ababwa are the ones put out by the Nevi Publishing team.
And yeah, the bit with the Sultan...in the original "Arabian Nights" demo, the Sultan was named as Hamed. And I know Bobolonious comes from the series, but I forget the specific name drop and which episode it was... It's one of those things where it depends on what you take in as canon and what you don't. You could say "there goes Disney contradicting themselves again..." or say "No, because Hamed got scrapped and changed to Little Bobo, so Bobolonious it is!" or "He was Hamed first and since he had an ancestor with that name, it makes sense..." It's sort of like putting the knowledge out there that the original intent was to have Jasmine be turning 16 and then deciding to omit a number all together so a few books used different ages. There's a zillion ways to look at and interpret it, only one, depending on your views on things.

Who decided his name was "Hamed"?
Bah, Hamed or Bobolonious...whatever works.
*Personally uses Hamed*

Hmmm, my part of sequels I think it would be one of the children. A spoiled prince who LOVED the palace life and maybe Aladdin could teach his son a lesson about humbling himself by living in the streets for a couple of days.
eh, then again it sort of sounds like TLM2.
or Maybe a sequel based on one of the stories of 1001 Arabian Nights.

The name "Sultan Hamed" was mentioned in part of the original "Arabian Nights" song. (Which was a whole lot longer and was obviously written to pop up during various points of the movie, such as during Aladdin's trip to the Cave of Wonders and during his imprisonment in the dungeon.)

No one really. That's the name I used in my "A Rise to Power" fanfic, however.
