What do you think about the Sultan. I'm asking, because one of my brother's friends, who's favorite movie is Aladdin, he's not exactly as big an Aladdin fan as I am, but it's his favorite movie, and he was saying, You know, I think the Sultan is just plain stupid. I think he's just pretty funny. And a little weird, and maybe childish, or absent-minded. But he certainly does love his daughter.
Oh good. Didn't want that pretty essay to go unnamed.

I totally love the sultan. While I used to think he was incredibly annoying, I've grown to respect him. As the story goes on, he becomes more and more respectable.
In Aladdin I, he's a good ruler and a loving father but definitely absent-minded. Of course, some of that came from the whole snake staff thing.
In Aladdin II, his wisdom and able to recognize sources of wisdom becomes to be more visible. His oldness is very much still there, but not as much as in the first movie.
In Aladdin III is when I feel most reverence to him. His wisdom and justice is more strong here than in any of the other movies. How he handles things is more wise than how he handled things in the first movies.

The little people must have teased him to tears about it. "The princess can't even remember your name, Ragoul!"

Raoul, and then Ragoul. And he just seemed exasperated. This is the
princess
calling him that, remember.
I actually have a transcript of that one...

If he was already confuzzled, now we know why he was really so anxious for Jasmine to marry. He needs to go to retirement already.

I don't think so, but on an already-confuzzled mind it might have a worse effect.

Did anyone else forget anything, besides that Sadira was Sadira and Jasmine was Jasmine.
Sadira kept forgetting Rasoul's name, but that probably doesn't count.

Maybe it was a side-effect of Sadira's spell?

I love the episode when Jasmine switches places with Sadira and Sultan was still nice to her instead of yelling "Get out of my palace crummy, dirty imposter of a streetrat!"
He also forgot where his own bedroom was in that episode.
I'm starting to worry about the guy...

Yeah, he's Santa incarnate. I like him, he's sweet. He was really short-sifted in the series, like Genie, they made 'em stupid.

When me and my friend watch old Aladdin tapes from the series we think, "Wow. He's so stupid." But then we think he's so cute and nice and grandfatherly!
I love the episode when Jasmine switches places with Sadira and Sultan was still nice to her instead of yelling "Get out of my palace crummy, dirty imposter of a streetrat!" Even though Jasmine still had great hair in that ep
He gets down to business when he finally has too but he really does remind me of Santa Clause

Personally, I look at him and think "Santa Clause!"
It doesn't help that Douglas Seale (Santa Clause in Ernest Saves Christmas) voiced him in the original movie.
