I don't know why Jasmine would get so mad. I'd go on a date with Al anywhere. Although it would be fun to make him jealous.

He's awfully young during that flashback in Out of Thin Air... but he's also pretty optimistic in that brief flash, too, so maybe he had just ended up on his own and not yet realized that most people aren't going to even notice him?
Though, I really don't know how young Aladdin is in that moment... 5/6, maybe? I'm bad at reading ages.
I'd say 5, maybe even younger. But for all we know he might not be on his own at that point; he's missing his father in that flashback, but we don't know if his mother's still around or not...

But I was inferring that if he were too young to know his age, he was probably too young to survive without someone constantly caring for him.

Someone who was a family friend or knew his age could have told him

Well sure!

I just have this feeling that a lot of people who would have helped him, or the kids he would have grown up with didn't live that long. I think he got a little help, maybe a scrap here or two, but nothing consistant.

Well he was old enough that his mother entrusted him with that dagger, and he understood full well it was his father's.
And he was old enough to survive without parental guidance. (I'm assuming if he had an adult figure helping him along, they would have stayed in the picture)
Also, unless we're talkin' pre-KoT, Cassim probably could have told him his age.
That's the fun thing about fiction... You can always make up stuff to explain things to yourself.

Depending on how old he was when he lost his mom, even he may not know how old he really is.

On the back of one of my Aladdin toy boxes, it says he's 17 in the first movie, so that seems to be the magic number to work from

That's complicated, too, unfortunately.
In an episode over a year into the series Aladdin says he's lived on the streets for 17 years; there are a few different interpretations of what that means.
And I think on the DVD someone said that Al was about the same age as Scott was at the time? Scott turned 17 right before the movie came out; he would have been 16 when he did his recordings for the movie...
So, 17ish. Nothing can be simple, can it?

Jasmine's age is never stated in the movies/series, but the producers have said that she was supposed to be 15 going on 16, but, for whatever reason, they deemed that "too young to be married" and it got cut out. I mean, Little Mermaid, much?
And, what is out of character about it? I'm not trying to bait you, I just don't understand where that's coming from.
I didn't knew that, thought I heard that Aladdin is 17,thanks for telling me
,yeah,Ariel is 16,what's so bad about that? actually Snow White is 14! (The Prince is a pedophile!),and what's out of her character that she's acting weird, insted of telling the prince that she's already going to merry Aladdin she use him to annoy Aladdin, thought maybe this one isn't that out of her character
,and agree with the Tiana comment,we are forbidden to have black maides but it's okay to have white maides and even have thier families trying to kill them XD.

The soccer moms who were still pissed off from The Little Mermaid deemed that too young, so they back peddled and cut the age out
. Nevermind that that's pretty common on that side of the world.
Not to mention common
everywhere
in the time period Aladdin would have taken place. Until very recently, if a girl was old enough to get pregnant, she was old enough to get married.
AWNW - If Jas turns 16 in the movie she'd be about 18 or 19 by the time of KoT, maybe that's what you're thinking of?
I don't blame people guessing she's 18 just from watching the movie; she's pretty mature looking for her age.
