YAWAI!
They're called countertenors. They aren't especially common, but they're out there. This
fella used his talent for the Aladdin side.
Rendered Brad Kane AND Lea Salonga redundant. XD

They could do smth with his vocal cords, but this is not very interesting to the public. A lot more exciting is to believe that he is a fishman. Well, as long as there is no harm in believing this...

...But apparently, my grandmother couldn't.
I showed some of Vitas's videos to my parents. Word got out to my grandmother, who looked him up for herself. Apparently, she saw the Opera No. 2 video in which he wore prosthetic gills. Alas, I wasn't privy to the conversation as it happened, but from the sounds of it she really thought he might actually have gills.

Oh, yes... the "gills."
He actually has gill prosthetics
in this music video
.
I don't see anything odd on his neck in that Wikipedia picture; just the normal skin creases that appear when one's head is turned that way.
One thing about him... he so reminds me of how much I need to practice!

OMG!!!!!! *laughing hard, because found something VERY familiar* It's our singer Vitas. His producer/manager has invented a "legend" to promote him: according to it, Vitas has got gills along with lungs, as if he were a 'fish-man', which allows him to sing like he does (the legend actually has been borrowed from a book of a russian writer, Alexander Beliaev "Amphibian Man", the main protagonist's name Ichtiandr has been also borrowed as another stage-name of Vitas). And... you can defenitely see something on his neck...
Yeah, he's got a unique voice here, I've heard he is veryveryvery popular in China.
If you are interested,
here you go

Post subject: This... voice... it's UNBELIEVABLE.
I think I'm in love, or something with a similar aftertaste.
The most unbelievable singing voice ever.
