Eh, the average person can't tell the difference between a Latino and an Arab just by looking at them, anyway.
My Lebanese dad gets mistaken for Italian alll the time
And I get it from time to time.

I would rather they used a younger couple who looked more like Aladdin and Jasmine. I couldn't really care if they're celebrity or not, just so long as they look the part but I guess that misses the point of the advertising campaign.
That said I like the image as an older version of Aladdin and Jasmine. The adult Peter Pan is just wrong, I get the "young at heart" message but it just doesn't look right.
The Cinderella image (closely followed by Snow White) is still the best of these adverts.

It is true...As long as an ethnic is played by another ethnic, the original race isn't as fussed, as they would be had it been someone of caucasian descent.
Weird, but true, and I can SORT of relate to it.

Apparently so. And because they're ethnic, so that's ok

4. Did I mention she's white?
That's... kinda dumb. Jennifer and Marc aren't Arabs, but it's okay because they're the right skin tone?

There's been a lot of wank over Jessica Biel as Pocahontas, too. It's getting annoying; they're just pictures
I don't know a lot about Jessica Biel; what issue do they have with her?
1. She's white
2. She, I guess, posed topless for a male magazine when she was 16 and that's not princess enough (Oh, but getting married multiple times is just perfect for Jasmine, right?
)
3. She doesn't seem Pocahontas-y enough
4. Did I mention she's white?
I don't think it matter if they did use someone ethnic. That picture overall just doesn't work for me because it's not reading as Pocahontas. Just a girl running in the forest. A lot of it is steaming from "But Disney has already screwed over the Native Americans enough with their version, and now they use HER, a white girl, for this? Fail!" I think somewhere down the line people are missing the point of the pictures

I thought because Jessica was the "IT" girl. The roles that she played in the past was stron athletic characters (like Stealth and Blade) like Pocahontas was strong and athletic. But Idk if there's a correlation or not,. They did have Beyonce as Alice in Wonderland, Oliver Platts are the rabbit, and Lyle Lovetts as the Mad Hatter. David Beckham as Prince Phillip. My favorite which was beautifully done was Scarlet Johannson as Cinderella.

You know what? You're right. I've been asked a few times "well, then, who would you pick?" and I can never come up with an answer because there really isn't a hollywood couple that really fits them/stays together that long
.

And nah, I don't mind.

Its a beautiful artwork. But Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez as Al and Jas ? It doesn't feel right.
I've been thinking a lot about why exactly those two as Al and Jas seems wrong to me, and I think I've hit on it: I know that those two have been together for a relatively long time for a celebrity marriage, but before they were married, she was married to and dating so many other people, and it doesn't seem right to compare her to someone who wasn't even sure she wanted to get married
at all
until she met the right person.
Of course, you'd run into that problem with pretty much any celebrity couple (remember Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachley singing AWNW on the DVD? And what happened to their marriage since then?
), so it's hard to say who would be better to play Al and Jas. Maybe Will Smith and Jada Pinkett? (Which would also make it kind of an in-joke, since he was actually suggested to play Aladdin in the actual movie...)
Edit: hope you don't mind, AG, but I edited one of the pics into the first post. Since it's up on the main page and all.

Oh, lawsy...
It is our good fortune that she is merely an artist and not a casting director. 0_0;;
