I noticed it. But you have to remember that the curse did not turn items into living beings. It turned living beings into items. So they already had silverware before the spell. :)
Huh, I never really noticed that until you brought it up. Perhaps that spoon was just a regular spoon that was around before the enchantress put the curse on the castle.
Sometimes a spoon is just a spoon.
However, I think I'm still gonna need brain-bleach after thinking the whole matter of actually
using
someone turned into a spoon... as a spoon.

I would probably eat with my hands, too, if I knew my forks and spoons were alive.

You know, I wonder how the spoons and forks felt being dunked into food and soup all the time.

yeah but you dont have to be a subject in order to know something exists.
Like what if Buckingham Palace became enchanted under a spell? ... You'd think SOMEbody would notice...
Um... maybe the castle was... no, maybe the Beast... Okay, you got me, I have no clue.

I see what you're saying here.
I think the writers/or animators just wanted to have a whole bunch of enchanted servants and just didn't give any thought to the questions that would arise, like why there were so many, and why no one seemed to know about the castle as well.
BTW, Nez's theory about the Beast being minor royalty sounds pretty plausible.

Maybe he was a minor royal. You know, he's a prince, but he's not immediately next in line for the throne. When you think about it, not having the responsibility of becoming the next king and still have access to money would have allowed him to become such a spoiled brat.

Yeah, I wonder that myself, Meesh. I mean, the castle not being discovered I could kind of buy, since I can see superstitous pple not wanting to go into the wolf-infested, spooky woods.
On the subject of exactly who the curse affected, I'm of the personal belief that anyone who was on the castle grounds when the enchantress cursed the prince got changed as well.

That's not what I've always wondered.
What I've always wondered was how nobody in the world noticed that this kingdom suddenly disappeared or discovered it until Belle's father.
