So, if the court finds the genie guilty of harassment, what can they do about it? After all, if this genie is a supernatural, invisible nuisance that's causing trouble in this one house, it's gonna be hard to arrest... Hey. Sounds kinda like a poltergeist, doesn't it? (... I spent way too long on that picture. Which is sad, since it isn't even very good.) I'll be interested to see how that case turns out. Although I think there'll be some problems when the defendent doesn't show up in court.
Perhaps it was a free genie!
That's actually a good theory because if it was a free genie, it would only be semi-phenomenal and
nearly
cosmic. That would explain why it resorted to hooligan pranks like leaving threatening voicemail messages and not the BIG LEAGUE stuff like making them think they'd get a treasure chest only to trap them underwater.

^What I got from that article is: Saudi's believe Genies/Djinn are real. I'm not going to question that as my culture believes that witches and mountain dwarves are real.
Seriously though, I'm glad at least their Sheik isn't declaring them insane like they would in more westernized societies. Still, very odd...

Yeah, at first I thought it was one of those, "Disney's movie offends ridiculous parent" sort of thing.
I'd really like to know if they expect to get money (maybe from the court)? Or if they want the court to help "lay the genie to rest" or something?
Then again, sueing for money seems more like an American thing. I don't understand the culture of the family in the article at all. Maybe if I did, it would all make sense. Maybe in their culture, genies can't turn down a challenge!

I saw this yesterday and laughed because the way AOL put the link was "Genie gets sued for harassment". I was like" GENIE, WHAT DID YOU DO?!" cause I thought they were talking about Genie from the Disney parks, but saw that wasn't the case

I read about that a few days ago.
What I want to know is how this family fancies they can get the accused to court in the first place. Aside from the reasonable doubt concerning the existence of the genie, what makes them think said genie would give a crap about a human judicial system?
