Menken will also score the film, which will also include the original film's songs written by him, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Ritchie said that the new songs are "marginally shifted" to reflect the changes between the time of the original film and the remake, througth he said that "essentially the soundtrack’s the same, just somewhat embellished with a couple of new tunes in it".
That's the last I heard about it, so the only thing that should be new new-new are the two new songs.
Looks like Naomi was also featured on the cover of Marie Claire. Some of the article is available online, but you have to buy the magazine for the full feature. She speaks about her experience accepting the role and filming, as well as her opinion of the film.

I think the best part is that it will give you so much more than you expect! It hits all the nostalgic beats that you want and need, but also gives you new moments that are incredibly powerful and relevant to the world we live in today. There is never a dull moment, you will laugh a lot and the moment Jasmine finds her voice…you may even shed a tear!

They said they were basically keep the score of the movie the same, just updating it a little bit, which is great. Alan is on board so I doubt they're gonna let them radically change he and Howard (and Tim's) work that much.
That's good. Some of the earlier trailers were kind of Hans-Zimmer-y

Also what I can hear of the score sounds lovely... although we all know how I feel about soft beginnings to AWNW.

My boss (who has never seen Aladdin) comes up behind me while I'm watching the scene (on a break!), and he's like, "Those are crazy good-looking people."
