It's one of those rumored things, but I don't think it's gonna happen. They don't want all the Aladdin fans storming their offices armed with a bowl on our heads and a spoon in our hands yelling "DRAGONSLAYER DEMANDS JUSTICE!" |

If Tinkerbell's a Disney princess, then I'm the Czarina of Tokyo.
'Sides, it's clearly stated that Tinkerbell is no princess in the book. She's a fairy of rather low social standing in fairydom... which is part of the reason why she's so crude, heheh.
The thing that I'm really concerned about is Rapunzel being too "hip." I absolutely hate it when they hippify characters to ridiculous extremes.
Ah, too bad Janette Morgan write it. Then I'd know it was in good hands. _________________

For some reason, I keep getting the feeling Disney is trying to promote that everyone is a "princess" even though the characters they are adding to the "princess" collection aren't princesses. Mulan is in there too and she's not a princess in any sense of the word (Almost became one in Mulan II, but she still isn't ). I see Pocahontas being added to stuff, but I also see Alice in there too. Only in Kingdom Hearts is she considered a princess
I think either they should keep the princess collection JUST the princesses, and hell, while they are at it add the OTHER princesses they keep jipping *cough Kida for example cough*
Or
Just change the name to the heroine collection and include everyone and all the people they don't make merchandise of that often if any. |

If you ask me, Mulan deserves a lot more attention than she gets. She's one of my favorite Disney females of all time.
What were they thinking when they decided to consider Alice a princess in Kingdom Hearts, anyway? She was a nice little turn-of-the-century English girl, no more, no less.
Perhaps the reason we never see Kida is because...
-She wasn't based from any particular fairy tale.
-Atlantis, as far as I know, wasn't THAT popular of a movie. (Not to mention the fact that it's another one of Disney's Great Anime Ripoffs.)
-She dresses a bit too skimpily.
With Rapunzel, though, I guess we'll just have to see... _________________

Yes, Mulan deserves A LOT more attention that she gets now, but she's in the same boat with Kida and any other heroine that comes post The Lion King and "omgdidn'tmake300million+". Just about all those movies are overlooked and it's sad because a HUGE majority of my favorites come from there.
Mulan is my second favorite, followed by Hercules, Tarzan and Robin Hood at three. Treasure Planet and The Emporer's New Groove is fourth and The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and The Hunchback of Notre dame is fifth. A lot people haven't even HEARD of half those movies because they have this thing that "If it comes after The Lion King--it must have sucked" or "If it's before The Little Mermaid, it wasn't that good" which I HATE.
But yeah, any heroine past Jasmine (and even her sometimes...ok a lot) gets shafted for a number of reasons. Clothing, attitude, the movie they were in...it's sad. (Although Disney Princess told me the reason Jasmine is sometimes left out of some of the merchandise is because they don't really know how to represent her. I'll have to let her tell you more about that one.)
With the Alice thing, I'm just guessing they needed someone to fill Ariel's spot since she was helping you in Atlantica and it would have been hard to drag around a mermaid for your evil plot |

Wrong attitude? And what attitude would that be?
I must say, I've been wanting to see The Emperor's New Groove, but I've never gotten to. I mean, it involves a LLAMA! A LLAMA! I haven't seen one 'o dems since... since... actually, there are people not too far who raise llamas.
But hey, it involves a llama! And if it involves a llama, I wanna see it! Because... because llamas are cute and fuzzy and have infiltrated Maxis games waaaaay too many times! _________________

HAH! See?! I KNEW these cartoon chicks with ultra-modern attitudes were a BAD idea! I was right! I was right I was right I was right!
I personally thought Mulan was done pretty well. She was a little scatterbrained sometimes (writing notes on her arm... *snicker*) and a little more "modern," but she was willing to put her life on the line to save her father's. That's what really endeared her to me. _________________

I didn't say wrong attitude. I just said their attitude in general as in that "screw you/rebel" attitude. I wouldn't say it's a bad idea AT ALL since a lot more people tend to relate more to that anything else (I know I do), but 1. It's getting a little redundant as you can tell from HG's list and, 2. Which would you rather promote? A kind, gentle hearted princess with a poofy dress and a dance scene along with great cooking and cleaning morals, or a sarcastic chick with a bad past dealing with a man that basically sexually used her and ran off to your little girl? THAT'S what I mean with the attitude. Cinderella compared to Megara is almost a huge 180 spin.
But we were talking about Rupunzel elsewhere and a lot of people didn't like the idea of a comedic princess because they don't see princesses like that. So, I am REALLY wanting to see this movie because I'm all for comedy, I'm trusting Glen Keane, and it's going to be refreshing to see a "new" princess. Can't say she isn't going to have that same attitude as the others, but she'll have something else about her. |
