Let me rephrase that:
A deep-space station with all the decor and trappings of Agrabah!
Genie would be some sort of powerful alien life-form that was bound to some device.
The lamp or whatever it was would be on some remote moon.
Carpet would be some kind of speedy little spacecraft.
Jasmine would be the commander's daughter.
Aladdin would be a really low-ranking officer... like a redshirt. (Or he might hang out on the station because that's where his mother works.)
Jafar would be Cheif of Security.
Hoo-yeeeeeeah! _________________

If it is an "Aladdin somehow goes to the Future" Story then it would suck. Heck even the TV series didn't do a predictable "Future" Episode. The write up s a bit vague, so we will have to wait and see. It might just be a Pro-Muslim movie? So that's where the Modern thing comes in.
But if they started from scratch and did the whole "Romeo + Juliet" thing, then it would rock. _________________ "Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.

From what I'm getting from that description is it's going to be the Disney verison of the story of Aladdin, but in a live action modern setting. For example, there will be a Jasmine, but she'll be a teenage girl of today and probably some lawyer or doctor's daughter or something
I REALLY want to know what they are going to do for Genie. |

This could REEEEALLLY be cool, but my guess is that it will be rot. I'll bet each of you a saucerful of cheese, that they'll screw up a live action retelling. This is bound to be a Disney version of Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. I hope that I'm forced to pay up on the whole cheese thing, because I'd really love to see this work. |

I liked Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. I only wish he'd do a sequel or four.
Anyway, if it's as good as the live-action Jungle Book, I'll definitely have to watch it. (Okay, maybe not the BEST movie, but I do like that one.) _________________

Yeah, that was a good example of a live action movie. Although, they did miss the fact that all the animals could talk... and alot of other things.
Well, in all actuality... it's not the same. Jungle Book was just a remake of the actual book. Not the animated cartoon.
Aladdin I thought was getting based off the actual animated movie? _________________ MysticMeg's Stories on THE LIBRARY OF AGRABAH!!!

I dunno. Given how early-on this is, it's hard to say what they'll end up working with. _________________

Aww... Am I the only one here that feels Aladdin should be left alone? Maybe it'll be good, but they just shouldn't touch the classics. |

I figure this is their answer to not really being able to put us on broadway like the other Big Ones are . We have too many tricks to work out, so they just put it in a movie but add a twist. |

I have a feeling that it's not going to be a remake of the animated Aladdin as much as it's going be an original story about a boy who finds a magic lamp. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |
