One of the things I like about the movie is that Aurora only gets the gift of beauty and the gift of song. In other versions, she gets the gift of...well everything. And basically, the faries give her her whole personality, much like a designer baby |
That was just an awesome movie, with the animation and the music. So...classic.
You have a point with the gifts. I think I read one of those "politically correct" versions, and it said something about the last fairy about to bless her with intelligence. (Either that, or it's the version my twin sister made up. Or it could have been both.)

You should read "The Little Hunchback" or "Babak". The hunchback was eating at this couple's house and he ends up choking on small turkey bone and dying. The couple, fearful that the town and sultan would think they killed him, drag his body to a neighbor's house to let them take the blame. The new people find his body outside their house and bring him in thinking he was just sleeping. Then they discover he is actually dead and thought it was something they did. So then they get rid of his body and this continues for a while with several people all thinking they killed him, yet getting rid of his body so someone else takes the blame |
That sounds like a plot for a sitcom. In fact, if there ever was a similar plot in a sitcom or other TV show, now I know where they got it.

One version I heard, the random Prince raped her, ran off, and she still didn't wake up...but he got her pregnant, she delivered in her sleep, and her baby suckling her finger removed the splinter from pricking her finger, and that's what finally woke her up.
Must be a heavy curse if she could sleep through childbirth... |

There have been women who have given birth while in a coma, so it's not that far-fetched.

| Does anyone know what color Aurora's eyes are? I see her in a lot of merchandise with what seems like violet eyes. |

They're brown. I remember, because my best friend likes her because she has brown eyes.

| The merchandise lies! They are NOT violet, even though merch does that a LOT. For a lot of scenes, they're not even colored at all...just inked pupils. They are colored brown when she's telling the fairies about the stranger she met, but they are light blue when Phillip wakes her up. |

Grrr...now I don't know what to think. Okay, so they're not violet but why did they change her eyes from brown to blue in the movie? |

Maybe she was wearing coloured lenses. I mean, she did have that fancy dress and everything.
