So what characters are getting new songs you think?

I hope Jasmine gets another song or a duet with Aladdin in addition to To Be Free and A Whole New World.
Sultan might get a song, Maurice has one, King Triton has one and Mufasa has one (right?)
Of course Jafar must have a song of his own probably a duet with Iago who is likely get a song too.

I think around 8-10 songs, give or take, is what they add for musicals (TLM just got 11).

That's why I'm thinking they might turn "To Be Free" into a Genie song (as it was his piece of music and that's what was considered when they were making the film). They could give Jasmine a duet with Sultan (like Belle and her father's "No Matter What" to express the same emotions as a replacement.

Hopefully we'll get at least a new hero song for Al (Beast, Simba and Eric all got one) and a heroine song for Jasmine (Belle, Nala and Ariel got one). That seems to be the standard along with another song (or 2) for both Genie and Jafar, a song for the Sultan. And a few reprises of the new songs. And of course the extended Finale that adds in parts of the new hero and/or heroine songs.

Of course that's just going off B&B and TLM (and to a lesser extent TLK). But since Menken worked on both of those (as films and musicals) it seems realistic to expect Aladdin to get similar treatment.

Personally I'd love it if they managed to get some of the unused Ashman/Menken songs in there (Proud of Your Boy especially), but I'm not sure if they would work without affecting the plot too much.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!I need to see the musical before it goes to NY! I m happyfor the New york ppl cause they dont got all of the disney lands or worlds near them. (AF92 hope you get to see it!!)but I live in Cali and I havent seen the musical yet..anybody have an idea how long will they still show it in DCA????? plz..I need to know ..theres no way in hell im going to NY?? I wish I could Sad

I'm guessin once it leaves DCA it'll more than likley be gone for good and Disney will start a new show (hopefully just as good as aladdin). However if you wait I'm sure the show will go on tour as so many broadway shows do....aaand if your impatient and wanna see it go to here (scroll down a bit to find it) and you can download the show for free (keep in mind you must register with them before getting anything...and yes registration is free) and if your one of the people who's conciouss about what they get and keeping it legal and whatever, don't worry it is. There has been no previous "official" release of any of these shows from Disney, otherwise VF won't have it for download (so no you cant find the CD's there, *THAT* stuff is copyrighted materieal)
