Now I am not the biggest fan of sequels but there are some pretty good ones. I think the best storyline and animation was The Lion King 2. The one with the best music aladdin 3 or The Lion King 2. Does anybody else have any opinions on the best storyline and animation or best music disney sequel.

Bambi II, hands down. The title sucks, the movie rocks.

Aladdin and the King of Theives and Return of Jafar, respectively. While I wouldn't say RoJ was a shining example of Awesome Movieness and was drawn rather poorly, the characters were still in characters and the songs didn't make you want to stop your ears and run screaming.

KoT was all-around awesome. Even if the art wasn't up to original movie quality, the artists' skill was still decent. The songs were excellent, the plot didn't make you want to chuck your Wheaties, and again, everyone was in character.

Lion King 2 was bearable, but there were too many plotholes and the whole storyline was too cliche. As Janette has pointed out, a lot of the Disney sequels fall to the 'let's all get along!' plot category - the kind where everyone's proclaiming their love for each other in song by the end of the movie.

You know, now that I look at the Aladdin sequels in comparison to the other sequels, I don't know how they managed to do them so well... except maybe that the people they'd hired were people they were planning on doing long-term work anyway (for the series), so there was a little more brainpower involved.

I don't know if it exactly falls into the category, because it's a Disney/Pixar movie, but I liked Toy Story 2. Other than that, and the third Aladdin, I have problems with Disney sequels. They usually have shoddy animation. Besides, I think most of the stories were pretty complete on their own and didn't need sequels. Like Mulan. I don't HATE Mulan 2, but I don't know why they thought they needed one.

D'oh - I forgot about Toy Story 2. It definitely just as good as the first one. Of course, it also wasn't made as an El Cheapo Outsourced-to-Japan Direct-to-Video sequel - they made it to be another Actual Movie.

The Aladdin sequels, Toy Story 2, and The Rescuers Down Under are definitely good sequels. At least they weren't made 50 years after the original movie came out.

My problem with the Disney sequels is that it is ALL Disney seems to be doing. Not every single movie needs to have a sequel, especially not Bambi or Cinderella. What's next, a Snow White 2? *shudders*

Actually there was another animation studio that did a Snow White 2, but they called it "Happily Ever After."

The Aladdin sequels. Other than that, I really am not too happy with the Disney sequels. But I haven't seen either of the Toy Story movies.

A Sleeping Beauty sequel would work, considering there was more after she wakes up, but with Disney's track record concerning sequels, I don't see them going that route. Plus, they need to leave movies alone if it's been years since they've been made.

...yeeeah, how the deuce did I miss this thread? Laughing

Aladdin sequels of course!

Toy Story 2 is fantastic.

Rescuers Down Under is just as awesome.

..yeah, that's about it Laughing. The earlier sequels, while I don't personally care much for them, are a lot better than the later ones. The later ones have nicer animation, but lack on overall heart sometimes. There's a few that I'll love for a little while, but then never watch again like Kronk's New Groove. Adorable and cute, but I haven't seen it since.

Hmm, there are two types: Direct to video is a toss up between Aladdin: King of Theives (but I hated the songs) and Lion King 1 1/2. KoT simply had a good story, and LK1 1/2 was funny and sweet at moments, which is good. It just worked better than a lot of DTV sequels I've seen.

Theatrical sequels: Toy Story 2, of course, and Rescuers Down-Under (I'd forgotten for a moment it was actually a sequel).

One's I avoid: TLM2 and, now that I've seen it, Brother Bear 2. I like the later's songs a little, but by the time I get to the really sweet one near the end, I'm tired of the film and want to get things over with.

You know there are a few good ones but all in all it sounds awful. Like they are making a Fox and the Hound 2. That movie was a favorite if mine but when I saw the preview I just shuddered. I also miss the 90s alot of great disney movies came out and most of them were loved by millions.

The overall best Disney sequel that I've seen, IMO, is King of Thieves. The art and animation were great, they brought back some SHADING to the cells, and the songs didn't totally suck, either.

Just for the songs, Return of Jafar did the best, IMO. The only real gripe I had was with the song "Forget About Love". The song is about love - the real stuff - and then they throw in a line about completely superficial stuff. ("A cozy rendevous/Candlelight for two".) It had NOTHING to do with the rest of the song. Followed closely by King of Thieves and Simba's Pride. (The songs in Return to the Sea were horrible!)

For animation maintainance, Mulan 2 gets the gold. They finally stopped treating sequels as complete low-budget DTV wallet-lining bait and actually gave the art the respect it deserved.

For keeping the characters in-character, Toy Story II wins. Cripes, they did a better job than Dead Man's Chest!

Speaking of Dead Man's Chest, they win the official award for Biggest Letdown. Somebody should have warned Verbinski that imitating old movies - especially ones like Star Wars -- was a baaaaad idea. (Was I the only one who noticed the similarity to Star Wars?)

Best Plot goes to King of Thieves. They managed to use the Dad Plot without making Cassim into some kind of Reluctant Darth Vader (Bootstrap Bill, that means you).

It's been years since I've seen Down Under - if that was what I was watching, I don't remember - and I've never seen Bambi II, Hunchback of Notre Dame II, Stitch has a Glitch, Cinderella II or Brother Bear II.

Easily KoT, but I suppose ya'll expected that from me. Laughing

My other contenders are the Lilo and Stitch sequels (Leroy and Stitch, Stitch Has a Glitch, and Stitch: The Movie, in that order), and Lion King 1.5.

In terms of music, I think RoJ takes the top. Every song is awesome. KoT is close to that, but there's a few songs that I'm not crazy about. Have to also mention Stitch Has a Glitch here, because the return to Elvis music was fantastic.

The Aladdin sequels with KoT on top. Other nice sequels are Peter Pan 2 begin and end everything in between was so-so. I also like Tarzan 2 and Bambi 2. Best score and songs, I don't have a best sequel in that department.

As far as any Disney sequels go, I think an Extremely Goofy Movie was pretty good! Not only was the animation quality BETTER than the first movie (although the creative use of camera angles and whatever was out the window), but they managed to make a completely believable follow up story without any musical songs! I mean it's definately not better than A Goofy Movie, but it's up there in the ranks of good sequels!
