Ok, here goes...
When i was really young, like 3 or 5, i liked disney movies, i'd watch them all the time, but of course, i didn't get everything. And at some point, i grew out of them, i didn't care for them, i guess i felt i was too old for cartoons, so i didn't really pay attention to disney. But thankfully my mom did, we finally got a DVD player and she bought a bunch of disney movies and others because she still liked them. So i watched them now and then, but i never got "Hooked". I started to watch a few Anime, Wolf's Rain, Pokemon, and Inuyasha, but that's it, i'm not one of those people that watch tons of Anime all the time.
Finally, Aladdin came out, and of course, my mom bought it. I didn't watch it for a few weeks, then finally figured i'd see what i remmembered. And for some reason, i was HOOKED. It was awesome, i loved everything about it, the clean, bright animation, the story, the jokes i didn't appreciate until now, and of course, Jafar. I watched it every night for weeks. I very interested in disney again, and drawing. I drew Aladdin characters all the time, especially Jafar, I can pretty much draw him without reference anymore. (I'll post my drawings once i get my scanner hooked up).
I had a HORRIBLE Dial-Up computer, that disconnected all the time, and was as slow as mollasses. So i didn't go on the internet at all. Then finally got an awesome DSL comp. That's when i looked up Aladdin, to see if i could find some model sheets, and ran acoss this site.
It's nice to see teens and older people (Not just kids) who like Aladdin as much i do (and Disney in general). I can't take people who criticize movies and video games, just because they're not to they're taste, or they think it's, the worst word ever created, "Kiddie". I never make fun of a movie or anything if i don't care for it, why make fun of the people that do like it? i just move on. I'm very passionate about this subject, and people calling things "Kiddie". I hear it all the time (for those of you who know video games) that "Link isn't mature enough" and "Why can't you make a "M" rated game" or "Mario is too much of a kiddie character, that's why Nintendo isn't selling very well, they should get rid of him".
I could go on and on about violence and such, but i don't want to bore you.
I'm very passionate about the things and characters i like. Aladdin has changed my life in a small way, by helping me get better at drawing, getting me back into the wonderful world of animation and Disney. And i don't care if people don't like what i like, such as Disney, oh well, they have their own opinions.
This is an amazing site, and i thank everyone who made it. And i'd like to thank the disney animators and everyone who brought Aladdin to life.
(Especially Andreas Deja) *Hugs*

Oh, I know. *hugs Andreas, Glen, Eric, Mark, Duncan, Will, Kathy, Aaron, David, Randy, Nik T. Daniel* Hell, anyone who drew anything on this movie.
*also hugs Bob Baxter, Lianne Hughes and Andrew Collins because there were supervising animators on KOT, but I have no idea who drew what character*

I probably have one of the weirdest stories of how I found AC. It happened like this. I was working on a project for my totally lame computer class. We had to make our own cartoons using PowerPoint. I planned mine to be this House of Mouse episode thingy where Jafar tries to ruin everything and Mulan has to save the House of Mouse. [I love Jafar to pieces, and Mulan and Mushu are the only good Disney characters I like, so it was perfect.] So I was googling Disney movies and assorted topics and eventually found this website. |

Yay, time for my turn. Well my story is mostly like all of yours but here it goes. I first saw Aladdin when I was 5 cause I was too small to see it in the theater (i was only 2 years old for goodness sake) and from that time on it became my favorite vhs. I pretty much had all the Jasmine dolls released at that time and that one Aladdin doll along with Rajah plushies and Iago things. Then the series came out and I watched it every time it came on after school.
Since I lived in Japan at the time anime was always available so while I loved Disney to bits, I became an anime lover as well. I can't really remember when but after going to Tokyo Disneyland again for like the bazillionth time in 1999 my Mom got me the vhs of Simba's Pride. After watching that I went into this anime phase where it was all I ever talked about and watched. Somewhere around 2003 I got tired of talking about nothing but anime with my best friend so I pretty much didn't watch anime anymore except for a couple of my favorites and a new series or 2 by my favorite mangaka.
For some reason I started missing good'ol Disney so I watched the Disney channel again but at that point most of my favorite shows like the Weekenders, Aladdin (of course), and the Hercules series were showing too early for me to wake up to or it showed while I was at school. This was when I started to watch more Nickelodeon but the shows there were getting worse and more annoying by the second which made me watch only Avatar the Last Airbender on that channel. The year 2005 when I turned 15 was when all the stress of school and life started getting to me and that was when I realized that my care free days were over. I moved from Japan to the Philippines and when we finally got all our stuff (well, the electronic stuff and regular living stuff like the bed, couch etc. anyway)
including the old vhs and dvds I barely had time to watch them so they were just sitting there on the shelf. Then one day around summer vacation I was bored around the house and was watching tv but I just kept staring at my old vhs and suddenly decided. What the heck, for old times sake. The first tape I picked to watch was Hercules and then I started to feel this warm care free feeling again so I just kept watching more old tapes and finally I found Return of Jafar and King of Thieves. At that moment my love for Aladdin came back again and I was getting ready to watch the original but then I remembered that my cousins had my vhs but to my horror they didn't take care of it very well through the years. I was horrified cause it didn't work anymore so I just settled for the sequels and watching Avatar the Last Airbender.
My Dad asked me again what I wanted for Christmas and of course I wanted the box set of Avatar (now if only the Aladdin series was available) since I loved that show as well. Later I asked him if he could get the dvd for The Lion King cause sadly the same happened to it that happened to my Aladdin vhs. I watched the sequels again and hurriedly asked my dad for the Aladdin dvd as well. I stayed on the Distant Horizons forum for Avatar for a while and then I was thinking "My two main obsessions are Aladdin (along with Disney in general) and Avatar, yet I'm only on an Avatar forum...time to spread more of the Disney love!" That's when I joined AC. I'm 16 years old and still a die-hard Disney fan! So, yup...that was my bit. |

I think for me it started a couple of years ago. I always loved Disney but we had a lot of the vhs movies but they were all put away not locked up. From time to time I watched one but it wasn't until one summer I was visiting my cousins house and we were cleaning up and we turned on Aladdin I looked at it and fell in love again. I refound my love for Disney then I started collecting all the dvds. Coincidence a year later I found in my old baby book my mom wrote. He just loves Aladdin he watches it every day. I just laughed at it. |

I came to this forum looking for information and for discussion. I've always loved the movies and series, but when I did searches I couldn't really find that many sites with really good information. I actually came to the forum from Merkal's Agrabah's enemies site.
Not much else. |

Wellll, I'll shorten mine...
I was always an avid disney fan. ALWAYS, to the point where my friends and I (at around the ages of 4- used to pretend to be them and create our own agrabah's and atlanticas etc. Kind of what I do know, only with storywriting and fanfiction!
Well, I was living in Saudi Arabia at the time, so I was 4-5ish. My mum would take me to this place where you could rent english movies. So there, my mum actually chose Aladdin for me. I was uninspired to pick it, simply because the movie didn't have it's original cover, so I didn't know what it looked like (shallow I know, but I was little) Actually a lot of them didn't have covers, you know how they are Saudia Arabia, very strict about covers.
random thing, my mum bout a mariah carey cd there, and they blackened her cleavage on the back, for obvious reasons. I only recently realised why there was a mark there, and that was because it had been bought in Saudi arabia. But anyway, back to my liking Aladdin!
So I guess I have my mum to thank for picking the movie, when I watched it, I was like "Hey this place looks a lot like parts near where I live! Their desert looks the same too! I wonder if this is really what the sultan's palace is like!" Course I was clueless. Well, my fave was Jasmine, cause she was soooo pretty, and Abu cause he was cute. As I got older, I developed appreciation for everyone, and the hots for Aladdin, lol.
So then I had to get the other movies, and it all stemmed from there! I found this site, one day, after I'd discovered what fanfiction was, when I found out one of my friends wrote for Harry Potter. I hadn't watched Aladdin in AGES, and it wasn't really a part of my life at that time like it is now (this was in grade 8 or 9) Anyway, I'd ALWAYS loved to write stories and make up stuff, play pretend etc. so it was right up my alley! When it came to decide what fandom I'd write for, Aladdin just popped in my head and the story started! I found this site when I was looking for pictures so my friend could make a banner, and voila! Here I am and how!
Look at how much I've written, so much for short version! |
