Uh..can someone help me out here?

Okay, when a lawyer says "Objection."

a judge can say "Overruled." Which means the lawyer can't continue with his/her objection, right?

and then that same lawyer says "Sustained."

and the judge can say "Denied."

right...???

But what comes after a denied? Nothing?

And what does it mean to be sustained?

Or do I have this all completely wrong?

It's been awhile since I read any of the Xanth books that had court scenes. Mr. Green

You could, though, try to search on the Internet for how various court mechanics work.

The judge says either "Overruled," or "Sustained," denying the objection or upholding it, "Denied" refers, I think, not sure, to a request to bring forth a witness or a piece of evidence.
