The only disney princess that I would ever label an air-head is Ariel. However, I excuse her. I mean, this was a girl who was fascinated by forks. She cannot be blamed for her actions. Laughing

I'd say fascinated and naive about the realm above her, but who cares what I think? Laughing

That's like if a parent blew up all of some kid's Aladdin collectibles, because they're dreaming about being with aladdin Laughing

If that's the case, my mom would have to burn my stuff for what I think about Aladdin Laughing

I've given this some thought, and I've come to a conclusion.

It's nice that some of the Disney leading ladies are of nationalities other than European. I applaud that. But I have a new idea.

They should have a Disney heroine who is visually impaired. Ok, I know what you all might be thinking, but this would be more than the stereotype. Most people, when they see someone who's classified as legally blind have all these assumptions. I mean, look at most sight-impaired people on TV. I realize there's people that really are that blind, but not everybody who's legally blind uses a cane and wears dark glasses all the time. Not everybody who's legally blind sees just shadows. I think they ought to get someone who is classified as legally blind, but still has usable sight, and observe them for a week.

Besides, a heroine who has some physical problems, but can still function, or realizes that she can, would be a good example, I think. There's not just blind people, but there's people with orthapedic problems, hearing impaired, learning disabled... The list goes on. Disney should try creating a character like any of the above...as long as they research it properly, that is.

They're just now getting an African American male and a pregnant woman in their movies; it might be a while before they decide to dance along the disability line. The closest you are getting is Silver the cyborg from Treasure Planet Laughing

But I agree. I'd be interested to see that

I've been observing you since you arrived, and... you talk a lot.

That could be interesting...

If there's one thing I DON'T want to see, it's a character with bloodsugar issues. Namely, because most people - including the "experts" - are SO in the Dark Ages when it comes to treating bloodsugar issues.

Come to think of it, Aurora wasn't the only one who planned to tell her parents/guardians about a guy she met.

When Jasmine gets back from the carpet ride, Sultan comes in and she says "Oh, father! I had the most wonderful time!" ::twirls around:: Very Happy

By the sound of it, she was going to tell him all about the carpet ride and Ali, just like she told him all about the boy in the market place. And she would've kept going but then Sultan started talking all this nonsense about her marrying Jafar. Laughing

So, techincally she didn't really "sneak out." She was doing what her father wanted by even giving Ali a chance Laughing

Well, I'm working a story where one of the heroes is blind. Now if I can get that done, I try to sneak it into Disney and try to sway one of the directors into making it into a movie.

Any future Disney Princesses, should they come to be, should have the same 'role' that Snow White, Cinderella, and Ariel did...starring in movies that prove that the animated movie is an art form that, when well done, the public will love and keeping Disney animation alive!

Snow White was the groundbreaking first animated feature...Cinderella saved the medium when people thought it was dead after WWII...and TLM proved that Disney could come up with amazing films after Walt when people thought they were done after a 20+ year slump of disappointments. (Yes, yes, there were some great movies in there, but nothing doing well enough to keep them going on much longer...Eisner wanted to get rid of animation way back when and Roy E. made them pour everything into this Mermaid project, and look what that started. Very Happy)
