I never really liked the idea that Agrabah's prison for criminals was built inside of the palace. That just always seemed dangerous to me for the Sultan & Jasmine's safety (especially Jasmine's as we learned a certain pathway in the prison leads to her bedroom in "Destiny on Fire"). As we saw in the movie by Jafar it's easy to find many ways to escape from the prison, plus I'm pretty sure that most of the thieves that got arrested were also fellow (less moral) street rats like Aladdin with lock-picks (as Sadira mentioned in "WWDSG" every fellow street rat can easily pick a lock). Maybe the prison should've been built someplace far away from Agrabah in the desert, that way it doesn't threaten the safety of it's citizens, the Sultan, or Jasmine.

I wanna say if there was a problem with people getting out the dungeon, they would have moved where they kept the criminals by now Laughing. There seems to be more criminals on the street than in those dungeons.

Hmm I haven't thought about prisons as much as the fact that the palace is uprooted completely at least twice in the movie and the tv show. The first time in the movie where Genie lifts it onto a hill and probably kills lots of people in the process...I could imagine prisoners at the base of the palace tumbling out of cracks and stuff...(I'm so morbid)

And the second time I remember is the sprite episode, gosh I hate those things, when they lift up the palace and bring it into the clouds, and then it falls quickly and eventually gets set back on the ground. Seriously, how can a building be lifted off its foundations TWICE and then still stand afterward?

Sorry I got off topic but I guess here are some questions we'll never know the answers to in cartoons.

Well in most of the cases that I am envisioning, it is people who know the palace well who burst people out. (and magical beings)

Abu always managed to work his lockpick... So maybe it's just a matter of guarding the dungeon better or making sure the prisoners don't have any possesions (namely, lockpicks)

I found it odd that in Aladdin - the dungeon seemed to lead right out into the desert - when the Palace is surrounded by walls. That may have been Jafar's magic, however. Still, it doesn't look like it's in the same place as it is in KoT, so I'm not really sure they knew where exactly to put the dungeon.

But you're right. With the doofus guards, I'm amazed the Sultan and Jasmine haven't been killed yet.
