Aren't there 10 Dp's? You know if you count Meg and Esmerelda? Why doesn't Meg get any credit? Even if she's not as pretty as Jasmine.... I've actualy seen an Esmerelda doll but not one of Meg. Maybe she's been forgotten? I haven't even seen Hercules. (is that even spelled correctly?)

I don't know why Meg doesn't get a lot of attention. Or Esmeralda. Esmeralda is one of my favorite Disney women- mature, tough, beautiful... not to mention that I really, really like her love interest. Very Happy As for Meg though, I don't get it. I think it just has to do with the fact that Hercules in general doesn't get a lot of representation. Aside from the series (which Meg did appear in, twice), there's nothing. *Grumbles*

Meg might be the Hercules sequel- which, being about the Trojan war, has be a bit confused. I mean, the series did an episode that said that the Trojan war was just an embellisment done by Homer after a homecoming (I think) gone wrong. I really hope they don't contradict that. *Expecting it*

LOL, I love that picture. "I want a t-shirt!"

But if you notice, they tend to "ignore" those females who are not dainty and the stereotype of what a woman should be. Ariel and Jas are in the collection, but just barely and I think it has to do with the fact that both of them are a little fiesty and not soft spoken. Esmerelda, Meg, Kida, etc. would be out of place just based on their personalities.

I don't think the company would want to be responsible for having a bunch of stubborn, sarcastic, headstrong women running around in America. *looks around at this board* too late. All my favorite females are the ones not represented on merchandise and what not. I represent them with something in my room. If I can't find something, I make it Very Happy

But on a side note, I do credit Jasmine for being that early influence of weeding out the stupidity of dating a million people and just wait around for that one person. I refused to date anyone in high school because it was pointless. Everyone was the same. I know I can't be the only one out there who did this. Or, you did find that one person and you are still with them today.
If that one person comes along, ok. If not, then I've still got Al Laughing

I wouldn't group Belle with the dainty women either. She wasn't fierce or extremely athletic by any means, but she was against what society wanted her to be. Intelligant, independant, and able to resist the town hero. And one thing I love so much about BATB is that she wasn't looking for a man to be with- she just wanted some adventure. Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora (I think.. it's been a bit since I've seen it), Ariel, and Jasmine all were looking for someone to be with. Belle just wanted to save Maurice.

*Had to defend Belle because she's been her favorite princess since she was 5*

Walt Disney said something very true about Cinderella. When the Prince didn't come along she went and got him. And she did go and get him. Very Happy

I haven't seen Cinderella in years and I think she should have stood up for herself more. She just let the others push her around. Rolling Eyes

Yet she stayed happy through it all, of course until they tore up her dress but other than that she was pretty strong.

She wasn't one until after she married the Beast, like Cinderella did.
