Now if we are going to be picky, then shouldn't the Genie lose ALL of his powers when he was wished free? And shouldn't he turn back into a Human?
But the way I see it is that as a Slave of a Lamp, he can grant people power or anything they want. No illusion. But once he is free he can only do stupid things. He's more like a Wizard than a Genie _________________ "Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.

He's still immortal. And how do you know he started off as a human? |

Well what else would he be before he was a Genie? A Camel? _________________ "Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.

So does that mean that there use to be a magical land of Genies?
It's not that I'm an expert or anything but a lot of other shows has the Genie as a Human and then became trapped in the Lamp. There was an episode of 'Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers' where if the Genie was released then the person (Or in this case chipmunk) who released him would be the new Genie. The original Genie was Human and went back to human form. _________________ "Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.

--I think on I Dream of Jeannie she said she was turned into one when she was a little girl. |

Well, in mythology, again, genies were born or created that way. I never heard of anyone being turned into a genie in anything other than Disney or I Dream of Jeannie.
In the episode "Power to the Parrot" Genie gives all his power to Iago, but he is still blue but he has to stay in the same shape. So, definitely not human when he lost all his power. |

Yep, there's an creation story in Islam that explains that genies, or djinn if we're going on historical accuracy , were made of fire, angels light and human mud.
When you think about it, with the unpredictablity of Genie and his ilk, it makes sense. _________________

Wierd... the word "genie" is supposed to hail from the Latin word "genius," meaning "guardian spirit." The word "djinni" traces back to the Arabic word "janna," meaning "to cover." Yet they're both pronounced pretty much the same. I wonder if the Romans picked up "djinni" and decided it was pretty close to "genius?"
I remember reading somewhere that some stories had it that someone could become a genie as punishment after living a life of depravity.
Psst - funniest story (that I've read so far) in the Thousand and One Nights that involves genies - Noureddin Ali of Cairo and his Son Bedreddin Hassan. Two of them. Who get into an argument over which human they'd just seen was the better-looking. _________________

He even said "So, this is what it's like to be mortal." He obviously hasn't been one before or else he would know what it feels like.

And air/gas! (That's also how they reproduce, too. *eyes Genie's tail* ) The death of a genie is also a nifty story. Old genies can't die without getting young again. |

Oh, that's true! I forgot about that. I knew there was some reason from that episode that disproved that...
I really need to watch Treasure of the Lost Lamp again; I think they stole a lot of it from the old version of the Aladdin script. |
