All right, kids, time for a few questions! Settle down with your pencil and paper...

Ever bought anything because, even though it wasn't DA (Disney's Aladdin) merchandice, it reminded you of something Arabian?

Ever worn anything because it put you in mind of something Arabian?

Ever tried to wear a turban?

    Succeed at it?

Ever tried to wear a turban in public?

Decided you wanted to learn to write the Arabic script?

    Succeeded?

Any words you learned from the movies or series?

Any words that became part of your vocabulary?

Any phrases/one-liners that you found yourself using on a more-or-less regular basis?

Sought out more Arabian fairytales when the DA movie (and/or its spinoffs) just weren't enough?

If yes to the above question, where did you look? Did you succeed?

Have you ever read a more traditional telling of the Aladdin story?

    If yes, where and why?

    Ever written a DA fanfiction?

    Finished a DA fanfiction?

Plan on writing more DA fanfiction?

Any plot bunnies that, while they didn't make it very far for you, that you'd care to share?

Ever put a self-insertion into a DA fanfiction?

If yes, what was your role?

If you draw, has DA influenced your art style? If so, how?

Ever had a DA-related dream? (Please share!)

Any DA characters you can imitate very well?

How many of the songs can you sing from memory?

How many in another language? Which language/languages?

Have fun. Very Happy

I had a weird dream involving Mozenwrath, yes.

Several, *shrug*, but in voice only.

All of em.

All-righty... I'm gonna answer now.

Ever bought anything because, even though it wasn't DA (Disney's Aladdin) merchandice, it reminded you of something Arabian?
No, but I saw to it that my sister got her mitts on a `1970's-ish blue glass genie bottle with the texture of a toad.

Ever worn anything because it put you in mind of something Arabian?
More or less. I like the style, baby!

Ever tried to wear a turban?
Yes.

Succeed at it?
It took a few tries, but I finally succeeded. My mumsy wouldn't let me wear it, though, because it's her piece of fabric and all.

Ever tried to wear a turban in public?
I wanted to wear said piece of fabric to Revenge of the Sith... but alas, no, I've never managed it.

Decided you wanted to learn to write the Arabic script?
Yes.

Succeeded?
No. The lack of vowels made it too inflexible and confusing. Instead, I invented a few alphabets of my own!

Any words you learned from the movies or series?
Insult (I was a little kid when I learned that one)
Punim
Falafel (However, I will probably always equate that one with Farfel Knabe. "Farfel! What a nice name. What does it mean?" "Some kind of soup?")

Any words that became part of your vocabulary?
Well, "insult" is a fairly commonplace word, so I wouldn't count it. But I use "punim" quite frequently now.

Any phrases/one-liners that you found yourself using on a more-or-less regular basis?
"I'm so worried."
"Try me!"

Sought out more Arabian fairytales when the DA movie (and/or its spinoffs) just weren't enough?
I was very curious about what the original material was like, so yes, I suppose you could say so.

If yes to the above question, where did you look? Did you succeed?
Project Gutenberg! And boy, did they have what I was looking for!

Have you ever read a more traditional telling of the Aladdin story?
Yep.

If yes, where and why?
On my computer. I downloaded it from Project Gutenberg. As it is, original fairytales are usually so much more fun because they're so much more gruesome and all that. Whee!

Ever written a DA fanfiction?
Probably about four.

Finished a DA fanfiction?
Two of 'em.

Plan on writing more DA fanfiction?
Depends on whether or not some concepts I've been tossing around can work out.

Any plot bunnies that, while they didn't make it very far for you, that you'd care to share?
Aladdin loses his memory and becomes the captain of a flying corsair fleet! Yeah!

Ever put a self-insertion into a DA fanfiction?
Not really. A lot of my characters have aspects of myself, though. Farid gets bossy. Zaki tries to do whatever makes the most sense at the time.

If yes, what was your role?
N/A

If you draw, has DA influenced your art style? If so, how?
Well, I now use richer lines, a less anime-style, and I'm actually getting to where I can draw men. I've always had a fascination with intricate designs; I've been learning to make them in even more funky ways thanks to DA.

Ever had a DA-related dream? (Please share!)
Not too many that I can remember. I remember once that I was Aladdin flying on Carpet.

Any DA characters you can imitate very well?
In attitude, I feel that I relate to Mozenrath on some levels. Sometimes, watching a clip or something, I think "My word! It's me as an Evil Overlord!" I can't say that I can do any voices, however.

How many of the songs can you sing from memory?
A Whole New World; Friend Like Me.

How many in another language? Which language/languages?
Well... just A Whole New World, and only in a language I made up. Rolling Eyes

1. Ever bought anything because, even though it wasn't DA (Disney's Aladdin) merchandice, it reminded you of something Arabian? -Yep. Last year, my friend got me one of those velvet art things that was based on Aladdin (totally Disney inspired looking characters :lol), and I bought a camel figurine from Walmart Laughing

2. Ever worn anything because it put you in mind of something Arabian? -I have a Grumpy t-shirt that says "Diamond in the Rough" which always reminds me of Aladdin, and when I went to Disney World I wanted to buy a Fez SO BAD Laughing

3. Ever tried to wear a turban?-I can't ever find one! I tried to make one, but that didn't go too well.

4. Succeed at it? -No, because *points to previous question*

5. Ever tried to wear a turban in public? -No, and I doubt I would. I wouldn't want to offend someone who takes that seriously.

6. Decided you wanted to learn to write the Arabic script?-I think I can write my name in Arabic and that's it Laughing. I want to learn the language, though.

7. Succeeded? -Not the whole script

8. Any words you learned from the movies or series?-I learned of foods like baklava and hummus. But as for words, I can't think of any off the top of my head.

9. Any words that became part of your vocabulary? -"Chump", "Jackal", basically a lot of insults Laughing.

10. Any phrases/one-liners that you found yourself using on a more-or-less regular basis?-"(insert object or situation here), my camel!", "Would you like some salt with your foot?", "Life is officially unfair!", "Did you get that promise in writing?", "I am a vessel of knowledge vast and profound...that, and I saw it once on TV.", and I occasionally get a "You're only in trouble if you get caught" or "I'm a fast learner" in there, but everyone knows where those are from. Damn catch phrases Laughing.

11. Sought out more Arabian fairytales when the DA movie (and/or its spinoffs) just weren't enough?-Yep, the tales in the Arabian Nights, any adaptations of those in book or movie form, and a little book called The Viziers Second Daughter about Dunyazade and some time traveling guy who tried to take Sheherezade back to the current future so a wax museum can get an accurate model of her, but took Dunyazade on accident and his machine ended up breaking, thus leaving him to roam around with a 14 year old in a strange land Laughing. I forget who the author is, though...

12. If yes to the above question, where did you look? Did you succeed? -In my book, on tv/dvd/vhs, and in my father's vast collection of Science Fiction books Laughing. And yes, I did.

13. Have you ever read a more traditional telling of the Aladdin story?-Of course.

14. If yes, where and why? -The Arabian Nights, and because I wanted to see where all this started from.

15. Ever written a DA fanfiction? -No, but I really need to. I must do my fandom good Wink

16. Finished a DA fanfiction? -Reading some yes, writing some-no Laughing

17. Plan on writing more DA fanfiction? -I have to write some to start with Laughing

18. Any plot bunnies that, while they didn't make it very far for you, that you'd care to share? -Nothing really, just more or less Genie's life before the movie and some moments with him, Eden, and Dhandi Laughing.

19. Ever put a self-insertion into a DA fanfiction? -No, but my thoughts about the matter would best be expressed through one of the Genie avatars I am making for a challenge:
Laughing

20. If yes, what was your role?-N/A

21. If you draw, has DA influenced your art style? If so, how? -Anyone who knows me outside the board can tell you that's a huge 'yes'. Last year in Drawing I (I'm an art major) I had the hardest time trying to cardboard draw boxes from real life. I soon discovered the reason I couldn't draw the boxes and make them look right because I drew everything on a curve. I can't draw a straight line worth my life thanks to the style of this movie and drawing the characters for years. Laughing

22. Ever had a DA-related dream? (Please share!) -I'm sorry, the rating of this board only goes to PG-13 Laughing. Nah, I've never really had a Aladdin dream.

23. Any DA characters you can imitate very well? -As in their voices? I can get some of Genie's impersonations down, my Jasmine voice is ok, but my best one is Abu. As in their character? I have my moments in the form of everyone. Last night I thought I was having a heart attack and sounded like Iago Laughing.

24. How many of the songs can you sing from memory? -All of them Laughing

25. How many in another language? Which language/languages? -I know like...three lines of "A Whole New World" in Spanish Laughing

Just about all of them
I don't know any of the songs in any other language.

But Aladdin has affected my life in a different way, too. It was one of the reasons that I'm still alive. I've thought about committing suicide, well, I tried once, but, I just...couldn't bring myself to it, thinking, who will take care of Sissy(my cat), what will happen to my movies(I keep them in my room, and well, let's just say that no one appreciates them like I do), my books, my cds, my brother says he'll miss me. So, Aladdin was one of the reasons I just couldn't bring myself to do it, along with Sissy, Harry Potter, Christian Castro, etc. I know it's weird, but...

Embarassed Embarrassments. Embarassed
I've made two classic villains-kidnapping-the-princess-because-he-wants-to-marry-her plots. Only one was with Jasmine's daughter. That one also had jasmine's son in it too, and Jasmine's daughter fell in love with a street rat. It was okay, but the other one was just plain horrendous. I'm glad I never posted it.

Ever put a self-insertion into a DA fanfiction?

Nah. I'd be selfish if I did.

Ever had a DA-related dream? (Please share!)

That I went to Disneyland or WDW and they opened a new land. It was based on Aladdin themed. Somehow someone was trying to prevent Aladdin and Jasmine from meeting. I was trying to protect them for the ones who are making them not to meet. But in the end. I got into the accident and I broken a vase. Aladdin look at me.

Any DA characters you can imitate very well?

Jasmine's singing voice. People say that I sound like Lea Salonga.

How many of the songs can you sing from memory?

All of it including the ones from the musical.

How many in another language? Which language/languages?

I totally own that mini-series on DVD, although he didn't do much fighting. Either way, it's a flippin' awesome movie.
