I was reading an article over the new Disney princess DVD that includes the episode "Eye of the Beholder" and the guy giving the review said that Aladdin's decision (to also turn into a snake) would shock any adult watching the episode. I'll post the article as soon as I find it again, but...really? Is him choosing to turn himself into a snake and stay with Jasmine that shocking? What did he think Aladdin was going to do? Let Jasmine sit on her mutated...hands while he and the gang go back to Agrabah without her?
Granted this person has probably never seen more than that one ep and really does not have a clear concept on their relationship, but is that decision really all that shocking to you? And not just from an Aladdin/Jasmine point of view but in general. Is also choosing the same fate as the person you love in order to be with them forever really all that shocking? |

It would only be shocking depending on the character who did it. Given that it was Aladdin, I wouldn't really be shocked much at all. _________________

As I child, I remember being shocked and "Nooo! They can't do that to Aladdin and Jasmine!", but I don't think that Aladdin doing that was that shocking.

You weren't going to say hands. _________________

...yes I was! Her hands were mutated-what else could I have possibly said?
Found the part in the article:
Parts of Jasmine's story, "Eye of the Beholder," can be a bit scary to young viewers, as she is transformed into a snake woman after an enchantress convinces her to apply a lotion to keep her young and beautiful so Aladdin will love her forever. His ultimate response, when it looks like all hope to restore her is gone, might even surprise some adults. This is Disney, so you know it will turn out all right in the end. Again, this is a good story. |

...DANG IT!!!
Her whole lower body (torso down) when she woke up was the body of a snake. |

I don't think the guy was saying anything bad about it. He probably meant the decision itself, as a plot twist, was surprising, considering five-year olds sometimes watch this show.
He needs to see "Two to Tangle," ...and the headless one...and lest we forget, the one that scared me peeless! _________________ You can never have too much Baklava.

Yeah... after reading the transcript to Heads, You Lose I was SO glad that I didn't see that episode as a child. Believe you me, it would have disturbed me greatly.
As it was, the only episode I ever saw was "Witch Way Did She Go." Reasonably undisturbing, that one. _________________

Nah, that isn't the way to make new friends
Maybe I read it wrong, but it just seems like he is shocked that after they go through all that, he decides to not only stay with her, but turn himself into a snake just so they can hug and whatnot. |

That move was so romantic. It was a sacrifice to give up his human form to be a snake just to be with Jasmine. In the end there was a solution. But, someone to give up something for theirs just to be with you. That's love.
But in the end. Didn't Fasir ( uh, I don't know his name.) say that Mirage used to be in love with him. or She onced believe in love before. |

That episode was so great, I don't know why it's supposed to be shocking. But hey, this is a GUY that said this in a commentary right? |

too bad they didn't do a follow on why mirage turned evil. It seemed that she was good before and I'm wondering why she turned bad. It has to do with love for some reason. What's her story? |
