Three possiblities...
A: This is the Aladdin cartoon series, not the Mirage cartoon series.
B: No time to explore it further.
C: The writers weren't that interested in exploring it further.

I'll go with the second. or

D) Some moron writer (there are a bunch of them for any one cartoon series,) wrote himself into a corner and no one helped him out.

Could the reviewer meant that it might be shocking for little kids to see both his/her favorite Disney characters as a snake. And believing for about a minute that this might the end meaning Aladdin and Jasmine would have to live like snakes for the rest of their lives?

That could be possible, but the way he said it made it seem like an adult watching the episode would be shocked that Aladdin not only decided to stay with Jasmine, but transform himself so that they can live together as one without any problems. For Aladdin and Jasmine I don't see that as being that shocking, but maybe for some other character it might be.
