I haven't seen Robots yet, but I'm wondering... have you seen Ferngully? And if so how would you compare Robin it to Aladdin and to Robots? Since it came out before Aladdin and was a completely different set of writers than either of the other two it seems like it would be a good test. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Missing? MISSING?! What was missing? I thought he was quite awesome!
One major difference is that Fender doesn't change shape/do imitations. Maybe that's it? Also, there wasn't any Yiddish to speak of, though I wouldn't say that would exactly be vital.
"They used to have this GIANT HAMMER... oh, they put it back."
"Speak of the devil. Here I come."
"If it looks like I'm getting smaller... it's because I'M RUNNING AWAY!"
Missing? Nah, I wouldn't say anything's missing. Hilarity as usual, I'd say. _________________

I have seen Ferngully! And Batty was very VERY funny. That's what I'm saying...
I'm not saying that Fender was not funny, he just... it seemed so forced. Like everything lined up to easily... if that makes any sense. It's like they put him in a situation just so he could say that funny line.
Not all of it was like that. OMG, I nearly died at the line:
"My last roommate jumped out of that window"
But... yeah... it just wasn't as funny... I guess it didn't have enough adult humor to it for me. _________________ MysticMeg's Stories on THE LIBRARY OF AGRABAH!!!

Well, the other movies that I've seen with Robin Williams, I've liked. Hopefully someone brings Robots in for us to watch on a Final/Class Party Day, however, the teacher doesn't like Jim Carrey or Robin Williams, so I'm hoping that we'll overrule her.lol _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Maybe it's because not every funny character Robin Williams plays is not the same/supposed to be like him?
I didn't think the movie itself was all that funny, although it was cute. The only thing that was making me laugh WAS Fender. His character itself was a little off, though. I mean, stealing Rodney's shoe while he was knocked out? Priceless |

I guess not. I just can't imagine Robin not being funny. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. Perhaps you are right in thinking of me as an alien. I know I am different from you. You see-I do not kill." |

I know his characters aren't supposed to be the same. But, still... there is a spontaneous quality to his other characters that this movie didn't seem to have.
...the britney spears sequence was hilarious however
But... yeah, Fender was funny... it's just that he didn't live up to my Robin Williams standards.
But, c'mon... who can truly beat Genie? _________________ MysticMeg's Stories on THE LIBRARY OF AGRABAH!!!

'Nother Genie, that's who.
Oooh... gives me the jibblies, the idea of two Genies trying to outdo each other. o_0
One thing that REALLY got me about Robots was the 1950's-60's style they used. Artistically speaking, that movie is... whoa... awesome. _________________

...I'm guessing you've never actually seen the episode with Genie and Eden..
ROBOTS was a good movie, overall. Well, it was mediocre to me. It just didn't have all that I look for in a kid's movie... the adult humor was missing.
And there were so many talented people doing the voices, and it just seemed that they didn't live up to their potential. _________________ MysticMeg's Stories on THE LIBRARY OF AGRABAH!!!

I think that's the problem with a lot of the newer animated films today, in the newer Disney movies too. They are bogged down with all the acclaim of these big name people that they forget the movie itself. |

I guess so. I don't like the newer Disney films, either. After Toy Story, they're just not the same as the classics. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Big names are the selling point... ((...hence the problem with Robin Williams in Aladdin...))
I don't have a problem with that. But when you have big names such as Drew Carrey and Robin Williams (who are comic geniuses!) you just come to expect more. _________________ MysticMeg's Stories on THE LIBRARY OF AGRABAH!!!

I was speaking of another Genie trying to outdo Genie, not another genie trying to outdo Genie. Geddit?
And no, I haven't seen that episode. Actually, the ONLY episode I've ever seen was Witch Way Did She Go, and that was about five billion years ago.
Robots wasn't made by Disney, Persian. 'Twas made by... by... egads, I dunno who made it, exactly. I just know they work under 20th Century Fox. _________________
