Tell me about it. It snuck up on me once and I never even got the guy proper.

Personally, I think the only reason Cinderella wasn't worse was because her stepmother would have smacked her silly. I have a cousin hanging around here who's almost as annoying as those stepsisters, but my mom doesn't smack me silly unless I get really rude. (As you can imagine, I'm horribly mean to her. It's not really a favorable character trait... but you ought to try living with the kid sometimes.)

Here's something I've never noticed before: When Cinderella is at the ball she doesn't know that the guy she's with is the prince. She's not looking for a happily ever after marriage, she just wants to go to the dance. When her dress is gone and the carriage is a pumpkin again she says something along the lines off "Well, that's that. Now it's over." So I don't think she was planning to dwell on that dream for the rest of her life.

That's actually the source of one of the main plotlines in the musical "Into the Woods." Cinderella in that version DOES know that it is the Prince she has danced with, but she doesn't know how to feel about his pursuit of her...as she puts it, "Wanting a ball is not wanting a prince." She actually leaves her slipper (which is gold, not glass, going along with one of of the older versions of the story) deliberately because there are multiple balls and she has fled after each one, so at the end of the last one, the Prince spreads pitch on the steps of the palace so Cinderella gets stuck and she decides that she's afraid to be caught in case he realizes that he doesn't like her anymore when he learns who she really is, but that she could leave behind something that might help him find her. Very Happy

It's a really good show; I recommend it!

AH! You had to go and mention CINDY...the superblonde imposter in the far-too-blue gown!

The Prince is sort of a stalker pimp...and Cinderella is a bit ditzy....it's simultaneously a hilarious show and a really moving one. The Prince is just hysterical...his brother is the Prince in love with Rapunzel. Very Happy
