Does anyone know if it was the Official Minnie or just some fan dressed as Minnie? If it's the Official Minnie, I have to find it a bit ironic because the costumed characters aren't allowed to say words. So the poor groped woman wouldn't have been able to cuss the guy out. She'd only be allowed to do the "suprised like the kid from Home Alone" thing the costumed characters are always doing. Razz

From what I've heard, it was the official Minnie.

John Moyer, 59, of Pennsylvania was found guilty today of groping a woman playing Minnie Mouse at the Magic Kingdom. On June 7, Brittney McGoldrick was working in Mickey's Toontown Fair when she said, "He came at me" and "grabbed" her. McGoldrick didn't call for help, because she is not allowed to speak while in costume and says she would have been fired. Moyer was visiting Walt Disney World with his family. While in court descibing the incident, she fought to hold back tears. Moyer was charged with battery.

My biggest question is where was the character attendant during all of this? Or why didn't the photopass person do something?

Yeah, aren't there people watching the characters on screens and telling the actors what to do in their earpieces? That's what I've read, anyway.

Where'd you read that at? Laughing There might be security watching the area they're assigned to and that includes a character spot, and I've never heard of anyone using earpieces (maybe in a show, perhaps). There should have been a character attendant with Minnie at all times, especially her for a bunch of reasons. Perhaps it happened all too fast for them to notice, but I'm still curious.

I think I read that in Disney War Laughing I know that book is very theatrical and dramatic but apparantly, it wasn't just something the writer heard about, it was something WDW let him try out for himself.

He got to be Goofy for a day. They had him study how Goofy was as a character, made him take movement classes and directed him inside the costume. Then again, it was a long time ago that I read that book so maybe my imagination is making that part up Shocked

I have to go back and check!

He might have been wearing an earpiece because he was a n00b that wasn't properly trained and they wanted to make sure he doesn't screw up or get hurt, but there's not one inside the head, I promise Laughing

I went back to re-read it and you're right, they totally don't have earpieces Laughing

I'm losing my marbles. Tink is storying them with other lost things Shocked Yes, that was a hook reference. Wink

I really don't know where I got the earpiece and cameras thing. Maybe it's something else in the park I'm thinking about....I know WDW times their animatronic animals to appear at certain times (the snakes on the rocks, etc) but I don't know if they bother keeping an eye on them on screens.

They did make him read a synopsis for Goofy and made him take some hardcore movement classes, though. That chapter in the book is pretty funny. I shall insert quotes from that chapter in this thread later for hilarity purposes!

Quote:
For a nonspeaking character, Goofy certainly seems to be able to make a lot of sounds. After a practice or two, Guiterrez agrees that an authentic "Garsh!" may be beyond my thespian skills.

Quote:
[Goofy] laughs by raising his paws to his mouth, but when I try it, Gutierrez says it looks like I'm sneezing.

Quote:
Gutierrez makes me practice Goofy's distinctive signature over and over until I get it right. This isn't that easy, given that Goofy's gloved paw has just four appendages.

Quote:
With my imparied vision [inside the costume], I fail to notice a young boy has come alongside, and when I turn my head, I bump him with my nose. Moments later, I hear a shrill voice: "Mommy, Mommy, Goofy hit me on the head!" Oh my God, a lawsuit, I'm thinking.
