Am I supposed to feel anger towards the father? Because I think his intentions are well. Just my opinion, by the way. _________________ A whole new world. Every turn a surprise. I think he's misunderstanding the concept of the Make A Wish foundation. It's not just for terminally ill children. These kids go through more medically than most people will see in their lives (and I'm willing to bet that child has gone through more than the father ever has). If they want a trip to Disney after dealing with something like that, I don't see the problem. |

I don't know if his intentions were good or if he's just being stubborn. But her cancer is in remission, so it can come back at any time, several times. Some kids die right after their Make A Wish trip even if they were in remission during the trip He doesn't live with the girl, so it seems unfair that he should have so much control over where she goes on vacation. Some kids can't take their Make A Wish trips until after they've recovered. Really sick kids are too low on energy to go to Disney World. And if you're near death like the dad expects, you'd probably have to stay in your hospital bed. Sorry if this post seems negative - actually I have faith the mom and grandma will be able to raise money quickly since some of the commenters said they'd want to give money. |

Keep in mind that the community donated their money SPECIFICALLY for HER.
She practically gave up half of her childhood for suffering through this bleak disease. She spent two years of her innocent youth in hospitals, undergoing painful treatments, losing her hair, being too weak and sick to play with her friends, etc. The LEAST she deserves is a trip to Disney World.
Imagine being the parent of a child and going through two years of watching her suffer and wondering every day if she is going to die. I would personally bawl my eyes out regularly and then again when being told she was in remission. I would want to dote upon her and ensure her big love and everything that she missed in those two years.
Not to mention that Make-a-Wish will have no problem raising money for other kids. It's not a small or poor organization by any stretch.
Plus, if it is true that he is reacting out of bitterness after a custody battle, then shame on him. I pray the best for that child, especially after having to put up with cancer AND a selfish dad like that. _________________
